SCIENCE AND AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the first science to find the therapeutic value of plants. Indeed 40% of today's allopathic medicines are derived from plants!. Every plant contains phytochemicals and most of them are alkaloids. They work on targeted human tissue and treat the disease like any other modern medicine drug, but in a natural way. Most of the present day Ayurvedic medicines under go clinical studies including animal studies on albino rats, guinea pigs to identify any adverse effects and to establish toxicity profile. Clinical studies include double blind and single blind tests to know a efficacy and safety of medicine in human usage. PANCHA KARMA
DOING MASSAGE IS NOT PANCHAKARMA. PANCHAKARMA IS DIFFERENT.

Pancha karma literally means "five types of bio - cleansing therapies". In Ayurveda treatment of diseases is broadly classified into two types namely "SHODHANA (removing diseases from roots)" & “SHAMANA (reducing the symptoms by medicines)”. Panchakarma procedures come under SHODHANA CHIKITSA. This fivefold sodhana helps in complete eradication of disease by removing root cause of disease and can make the persons regains his health.
These therapies are advocated even in a healthy person to make him capable to combat upcoming diseases. Ayurveda quotes that the disorders treated with this mode of therapy do not recur.

Some Allied Pancakarma procedures
Apart from the main pancakarma therapy certain procedures are newly included into Ayurvedic. Most of them are external and support actual five treatments. Some of these procedures are described below:
ELAKIZHI (PATRA POTTALI SWEDANA)
It is a type of swedana (sudation) treatment in which the whole body or any specific part is applied with medicinal leaves puddings (medicinal leaves are cut into small pieces and processed in the medicated oils) externally in the form of boluses tied up in muslin bag, dipping it in warm medicated oils.
Time taken: around 45 minutes
Period of treatment: Depends upon disease. Generally done for a period of 07 to 14 days.
Effective in: Chronic back pain and Rheumatic complaints, Arthritis, Paralysis, Pain and swelling in the joints. It stimulates and strengthens the nervous and muscular systems, increases the circulation, reduces joint stiffness.
PIZHICHIL
This is a therapeutic process in which lukewarm medicated oil is poured all over the body in a uniform rhythmic way continuously in specific direction along with simultaneous gentle massage.
Time taken: 60 to 90 minutes
Duration: generally for 07 to 21 days.
Effective in: Rheumatic diseases like Arthritis, Paralysis, weakness of muscular and nervous systems and very effective Sexual weakness.
SIROVASTI
Medicated lukewarm oil is allowed to retain over the head
Time taken: 45 min to one hour
Duration: 3 days to 7 days
Effective in: Facial palsy, Cataract, Deafness, Ear pain, Migrine, Insomnia and Stress. It stimulates the nervous system and promotes memory and concentration.
ABHYANGA
Abyanga is the Sanskrit term for massage in Ayurveda. It is done using medicated oils to ease pain and reduce swelling. It also gives good relaxation and can aid in removal of toxins accumulated in body due to present day hectic lifestyle.
Time taken: Normally for 45 to 60 minutes
Duration: Depends upon disease and generally for 07 to 21 days.
Effective in: Improve blood circulation, Promotes cellular regeneration, It is a very effective treatment in Rheumatic complaints, Stiffness of joints, Spondylosis, Spondylitis, Low back pain, Sports injuries, Frozen shoulders, etc.
SIRODHARA
In this process medicated oil/liquid is continuously poured over the forehead and then allowed to flow over the scalp from a specific height for a certain period of time.
Time taken: 45 min to one hour
Duration: 3 days to 21 days
Effective in: It is widely used all over the world for Stress adaptation, Psychiatric diseases and to get good sleep.
NADI SWEDA
In this technique stream is applied to body parts with the vapors generated out of medicated decoction through a tube
Time taken: 10 min to 15 minutes
Duration: 3 days to 21 days
Effective in: Osteoarthritis, Spinal cord pain due to Disk prolase, Muscle sprain or to relieve pain.
NETRA TARPANA
Thick paste of black gram is put around the eye ball. Then medicated oil or ghee is put in this groove to lubricate eye and surrounding areas.
Time taken: 15 min to 30 min
Duration: 3 days to 8 days
Effective in: Cataract, Glaucoma, Eye sight, Burning eyes, Eye infections etc
GREEVA VASTI / KATI VASTI / URO VASTI
Retention of lukewarm medicated oils in a leak proof boundary made up of green gram powder paste over the neck (Greeva vasti), in the low back/waist(Kati vasti). It is highly beneficial in various spine and disc related complaints.
UTTARA BASTI
Drug is administered through urethra or vagina into bladder / uterus. It is a specialized procedure performed only in Ayurveda
Time taken: One hour
Duration: 3 to 7 days alternative days.
Effective in: Infertility both in male and female. Highly effective in tubal blocks. It improves semen count and motility even in impossible and difficult cases. It increases AMH harmone in female. Ours is the only hospital in east Godavari district that do uttaravasthi.

Surgeries
KSHARA SUTRA
It is a specialized and unique Ayurvedic procedure and an effective alternative to surgeries. A specialized medicated thread is applied for ano rectal disorders like Fistula, Fissure and Hemorrhoids (Piles). It is being successfully practiced as promising therapy mainly for ano-rectal disorders since ancient time by Indian surgeons. This technique was first practiced by Susruta, the renowned ancient Indian surgeon. Since then crores of people got complete health in complains like fistula, fissure and piles. The therapy is very effective even in the management of complex and recurrent cases. Patient can go home on the same day and can attend his office. Cost of treatment is very resonable when compared with allopathic surgery. Recurrence rate of disease is almost zero.
